Yes We CAN! – Canterbury Freemasons Food Bank Appeal

October–December 2026

Canterbury Freemasons are coming together to support local City Mission food banks ahead of Christmas — traditionally one of their busiest times of the year.

The goal is simple: collect 10,000 cans of food across the Canterbury region.

Throughout October, participating Freemasons are challenged to collect one can of food for every day of the month — 31 cans each. Donations can come from friends, family, neighbours, workplaces, sports clubs and the wider community. Every can counts.

How it works

October – Collect
The Yes We CAN! campaign gets into full swing, with Brethren collecting canned food throughout the month.

November – Gather
Donations are brought to participating Lodge meetings, where each Lodge will act as a local collection point.

December – Deliver
On the second Sunday of December, Lodge representatives will bring their collected donations together for delivery to City Mission and food bank services in Christchurch, Ashburton and Timaru.

The campaign is supported by the Grand Superintendent of Canterbury, VW Bro Don Barron, and Regional Charity Officer Bro Chris Jennings, with the hope that Yes We CAN! will become an annual Canterbury initiative.
