Arvind Masilamani
Worshipful Brother Arvind Maslamani was first introduced to Freemasonry as a child in Chennai, India, watching his father prepare for Lodge. After moving to New Zealand in the mid-1980s to pursue opportunities in technology and engineering, he joined Sumner Lodge in the early 1990s with encouragement from his father and a close friend. Growing up in multicultural India taught him tolerance and acceptance—values he sees mirrored in the Craft across cultures. Now serving as Grand Steward in the Grand Lodge of New Zealand and a member of the Canterbury Masonic Charitable Trust, Arvind is dedicated to strengthening Freemasonry’s role in the community. He is candid about the challenges of declining membership and believes the Craft must adapt to modern times while holding true to its core values, with purpose and service at the heart of engaging future generations.
